May 2008
It's official. This has become the biggest renovation project for me ever. And it's also the most satisfying.
The current month's photos don't translate well as the structural elements of this project are literally behind, under, within the walls and floors. Take my word for it, the home sucked in 250 bags of concrete and a container load of lumber! The backside of the home is the only visual evidence of this phase. It's the tip of the iceberg!
The framing going on inside will soon produce closets plus staging for windows/french doors and then take us to the next phase; plumbing updates, siding (after window installation) and some changes with exterior power poles and wires, courtesy of PUD 3.
My second unit will be working on arbor, pool and garage. We also are developing some landscaping ideas. We need trees, lots of them!
Quite a bit has happened within the neighborhood, as I predicted it would when 624 Maple St. was purchased. It's beginning to live up to its name of Capitol Hill of Shelton. There is a major cleanup of 5 acres down the street from us and we are seeing several new construction projects from a subplat a few blocks away. A remodel of another home is taking place too. None of this is surprising as this corner of Shelton offers large lot sizes, classic looking homes that need help and is ready for a new lifecycle. Not to mention its hilltop location above downtown Shelton.
One thing I did not expect however was the opening of Olympic Station Deli (www.OlympicStationDeli.com ) at the base of Capital Hill on 1st Street. The Reuben Sandwich was delectable! At least I won't starve to death in between rounds of fighting with this house!
Great things are about to happen with Shelton. I would love to add you as my client regarding fantastic real estate opportunities throughout the area! Contact me anytime via www.GeneDexterHomes.com! I will be introducing myself to the town soon. I am the Seattle based RE/MAX Integrity agent who will take Shelton listings and market them internationally. Now won't that be fun?! :)
